At the tail end of 2012 both Lincoln and Django Unchained came out featuring some great hats, not to mention Gangster Squad which will be released in theaters on January 11, 2013.

Lincoln: Directed by Steven Spielberg & Starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Field

Abraham Lincoln towered over most of his contemporaries at six feet four inches tall. He chose to stand out even more by wearing high top hats. Lincoln acquired this hat from J. Y. Davis, a Washington hat maker, and had a black silk mourning band added in remembrance of his son Willie. No one knows when he obtained the hat, or how often he wore it, but the last time he put it on was to go to Ford’s Theatre on April 14, 1865.
